Leicestershire & Rutland Golf Alliance

President for 2019 -2020

Tim Linnell

I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome you all to 2019-2020 season. Let's hope the weather treats us as well as last season, with no games being cancelled. Thanks to all the committee for all the time and effort they put in throughout the year especially Graham who will be a hard act to follow.

One of our goals this year is to encourage more golfers to join the Alliance, to do this the committee has decided that any member can bring one golfer who is thinking of joining, to play one game without paying a joining fee, hopefully this way they can get the feel of the friendly atmosphere we all try to create. Please take advantage of this new incentive so the new person may come back and join the Alliance.

I've been asked to give a brief history of myself, so here goes; I've always played sports football, cricket, match fishing and I took up golf when I was 48 years old, too old to do anything else. I started with a handicap of 28 and the lowest I've been since is 7 (not for long though). I've been Captain at Forest Hill, a memeber of the captains society for 12 years and the Alliance for 6 years, thoroughly enjoying the friendly nature you all create.

I've written too much alread, and I don't want to bore you anymore. Enjoy the new season ahead of you and I look forward to seeing you all at our first meeting on 19 September at Glen Gorse Golf Club.
